The Taming of the Shrew a Play by William Shakespeare
July 29, 30, 2011 August 5, 6, 7 2011
Directed by: Earle & Betty Howe
SYNOPSIS:
For Petruchio and Katherine, it's love at first sight. Unfortunately, Katherine has fought all her life for independence and isn't prepared for a man who wishes to treat her as an equal. Petruchio will go to extreme measures to get her attention and show how much he loves her.
Continuing our popular Summer Shakespeare series for a 6th year, CPCT presents a romance set on the front lines of the battle between the sexes.
Director Earle Howe describes his adaptation as what Shakespeare would have written if he had lived in this century. It's still at least 99% true Shakespeare, and 100% true to the belief that these plays are not meant to be revered from afar, but enjoyed first hand. The result is a "Shrew" that is both less and more than what you might expect.
